Sampaguita Beer; Hats Off To Mumford Brewing

Our buddies at Mumford Brewing Company got together with Goorin Hat Shop for a little collaboration of sorts last Thursday.Goorin’s Larchmont Village location hosted the event and Tien Tran, marketing maven of the brew crew, offered hors d’oevres and chit chat to nosh on. Peter, Mumford’s brew master, chatted up the complexities of beer and the challenges of opening a bar. Todd, other Mumford, poured us a couple of glasses of their latest and greatest.

The first glass had notes of jasmine.  It was light, bright and refreshing. Imagine drinking  the scent of a Sampaguita flower. The first Sampaguita inspired beer maybe?…Wouldn’t that be awesome!  (Hmmm..maybe something for the Mumfords  to think about).   The second beer, the El Fuego, had a deep, bold,  jalepeno flavor. I like things spicy, so  the El Fuego was my favorite.  Both beers would be great with freshly fried lumpia or tangy-soy marinated bistek. Mumford Brewing has plans to set up shop in downtown Los Angeles.
